Cashing Check from Different Bank

I have a check that has been signed over to me. I do not have an account that the bank where the check is written on. Where should I cash the check?

You should be able to deposit it in your account or go to the bank it was written on, and request payment. The hesitation may be that if this check was written to someone who then endorsed it over to you, how will you prove it was in fact endorsed by the real person before you received it? To answer that question and most easily cash your check, have that person with you. Short of that, ask your bank very nicely to accept the check for deposit into your account.
