Cashing Check Made Out to Deceased Spouse

My husband recently passed away and I just received a check in his name. I still haven't removed his name from our joint account. How should I go about cashing it?

The check can legally only be endorsed by the legal representative of your husband's estate. You can return the check to the party that sent it, and ask for a replacement in your name (they may not be obligated to do that for you), or you can wait until an executor or administrator for his estate is formally named by the court.
