Signing a Check over to an Organization

How do I sign a check over to a charitable organization?

The best thing to do is to deposit the check into your own account and then write another check to the organization, so that you have documentation of your donation for tax purposes. However, if you are not concerned about the tax deduction, and if the organization is willing to accept the check that's payable to you, you can endorse it in this form:

"Pay to the order of
[NAME OF ORGANIZATION]
[YOUR SIGNATURE]"
