How many business days does it take for a check written from an estate to a beneficiary to clear the beneficiary's account?
The fact that the check is drawn on an estate account should not affect the time it takes for it to clear. If the check is local, drawn on a bank in the same check processing region as the bank into which it is deposited, the beneficiary should be able to draw on the deposit within two business days, unless the bank has provided a notice that it is holding the funds longer. If the check is drawn on a non-local bank, funds should be available by the fifth business day.
It might take a bit longer for the check to make the round trip from depositary bank to paying bank and back, if the check is for some reason dishonored. Even if the depositary bank allows funds to be withdrawn, if the deposited check bounces, the beneficiary will be liable for it.
