Signing Over a "Deposit Only" Check

If I receive a personal check that reads “deposit only” on the back. Can I sign the check over to another person for deposit into her account?

If that legend was put there by the issuer of the check, it's a restriction you can't get around. You'll have to deposit the check to an account in your name, or ask the issuer for a new check without the restriction.
