Depositing Expired Checks

I was unemployed during December, 2007, and still have unemployment checks that I need to deposit into my account. The checks say "Do not cash after February 2008". Does that mean that they cannot be deposited? If not, is there any way that I can get the funds from them?

Those words means that it's likely that the bank on which the checks are drawn won't honor them, so don't deposit them into your account. It's never a good idea to hold on to checks for as long as you have, but you may be able to get the Unemployment Office to re-issue them. Call the office to find out how to proceed.
