Joint Check, One Signature

I received a joint check with my name as the first payee. I sent the check to the other party for him to endorse. He kept the check and cashed or deposited it at his bank without my endorsement. I have a copy of the check that shows only one endorsement. What recourse do I have in terms of going after the bank to receive my payment?

You need to contact the issuer of the check and tell them that you neither endorsed the check, nor received benefit of the payment. Tell them that you want your portion of the money that is owed to you. Placing the ball in their court is your first move. After that, you may need to seek an attorney to assist you in collecting your portion of the money owed you.
