Can I deposit a check with just my signature if it has my name and another name on it?
If the check is payable to two people jointly, the other persons signature may be necessary to negotiate that check. This means it is payable to "John and Jane Doe."
If it is payable to "John or Jane Doe" than either can negotiate the check. If it is just to John Doe, Jane Doe" that is assumed to be "or" and again, either person can negotiate it.
That sums up the way the Uniform Commercial Code answers your question. However, your bank may have a policy that requires that all payeesendorse a multiple-payee check, regardless of whether the payee names are joined by "and," "or," or nothing at all. Contact the bank to find out what its policy is.
