Limit on Personal Check Use

Is there a limit on the amount of funds that can be cashed or deposited from a personal check?

There are two limits that immediately come to mind. First, there is the balance in the account on which the check is drawn. Second, if cashing the check is what you need, there might be a very practical concern that the bank have an adequate supply of cash.

Finally, you probably won't ever run up against the limit for handling a check in the routine inter-bank collection process -- the largest amount that can be encoded in the amount field for automated processing is $99,999,999.99. For anything more definite, you should contact the bank at which you want to cash or deposit the check.
