Cashing Check without Probate

I received a check from an insurance company that was made out to my father who recently passed away. He doesn't have anything that will go into probate and the amount of the check is too small to make doing a probate worthwhile. I am his only heir. Is there any way that I can cash this check?

Unless your bank is willing to chance it, there really isn't any way to cash the check. Contact the issuing insurance company, explain the situation, and see if the check can be reissued.
