Can I deposit a check made out to me (not my business) into my business account?
It will be up to your bank to decide whether it will accept the check for deposit to your business account. Some banks would require you to deposit the check first to your own account, and then write one of your checks to the business. If the bank allows it, you should endorse the check to the business and then the business should endorse it for deposit.
If you are operating a sole proprietorship, you're in a position to ask customers to make their checks payable either to you or to the business. To eliminate confusion, it's best to have checks payable to the business when the transaction is a sale or service from the business, and payable to you individually if the check is for a personal gift or obligation.
