Identifying Where a Check was Cashed

How can I track where a check was cashed by the numbers on the back of a check? No bank name is showing.

Untitled

The numbers on the backs of checks are often hard to read. However, look for a series of nine digits with arrows at each end. You'll see something like >011305749< or ->011305749<-.

That's the routing number of the bank that first took the check for deposit. If you Google that nine-digit number, you should learn the name and often the location of the bank, although you won't be able to determine which branch office of the bank took the deposit.
