I wrote a check to my landlord and his bank cashed it for two dollars more than what it was written. That mistake made another check of mine bounce. My bank reversed their bounce check fee, but the check that bounced was for Time Warner, and they are refusing to reverse the fee they charged me. It is the other bank that made this mistake; my account would have been fine, if they had not made that mistake. They are refusing to reimburse me the $25 I was charged at Time Warner. My bank did put into my account $2 for the other bank's mistake. The other banks mistake cost me $25 and my bank $2. How is this fair? They flat out refuse to reimburse any money.

Your bank was obliged to reimburse you for the fees that it imposed. The check payee is not under any legal obligation to reimburse you for its fees, nor is the other bank under any contractual obligation to cover the check payee's fee for the bounced check. It is obligated to reimburse your bank for the $2 error, although it is doubtful that your bank went to the trouble to try to collect that sum. You might be able to collect the $25 from the bank that caused all the trouble in a small claims court action; the fee for such an action, however, might be more than it's worth.
