What does 'Accepted w/Reservation' Mean?

My apartment building has started stamping "Accepted w/Reservation" along with their normal stamp on the back of my rent check. I have lived here more than three years, and have never been late nor bounced a check. What does this term mean?

Untitled

It appears that the building management is attempting to reserve its rights relating to rent disputes, bounced checks, etc., and may have been advised by an attorney or trade association that adding the wording to their endorsement protects some of those rights. What rights, if any, that wording might protect will depend on the laws of your state.
