It can vary from a couple of days to a week or so, depending on how far away the seller's bank is from your husband's bank. If you or your husband have internet or telephone access to your husband's account, you can tell when the check has posted. Assuming there are no problems, you can safely say that the check is paid after midnight that day. For example, if the check posts to the account on Monday, you will be able to see that it's been paid on Tuesday morning. By Wednesday morning, that payment should be final and you can report the payment has been completed. The seller may or may not be able to contact your bank to verify that your check has been paid.
