Check to Wrong Person, What Can I Do?

I wrote a large check to the wrong contractor. He cashed it and refuses to give me my money back. Do I have any legal recourse?

Untitled

Probably, but you may well have to get an attorney first. If the contractor wasn't owed that much money, you may claim "undue enrichment". The contractor shouldn't expect something for nothing.

If you did owe them that amount, you may have repaid that debt without intending to do so. It may be too late to do anything about it now. A debt was owed, and paid.
