Putting a 'Watch' on My Account

My cleaning lady lost a check (out into the wind) and I wanted to see what the fees were for stopping payment. I'm not as much concerned about the check being cashed as I am about my bank account info being out there. We live in the country and the check escaped into the woods or down the hill, so there may be no problem. However, I wondered if a watch could be put on my account or what my best options might be.

Consider the fact that every time you pay a bill with a check your account number information passes under a number of eyes. While it's probably true that most of those eyes belong to trustworthy souls, there are no guarantees.

Its probably worth the time, trouble and fee to place a stop payment on that check. Your bank is likely to charge at least the same fee for placing a watch on your account activity.
