Is there any kind of check that I can write to two different people (husband and wife) so that both have to endorse it in order to cash it? I do not want one to sign the check for the both of them! Maybe in front of a notary? What kind of check would I issue them?
You can require that both payees endorse the check by using the word "AND" (put it in capital letters to make sure it's seen) between the payee names.
Write the payee names on the check like this:
"John Smith AND Sally Smith"
