Are there any banks that you know of in Florida that do not change the posting order of checks, but allow them to post as they are received? It really hurts the consumer when a large check that you expect to pay a fee on gets thrown in front of many smaller transactions, causing them to collect many fees.
You are correct in your observations that when a bank uses the largest first posting order, and an account goes overdrawn, fees tend to multiply. Make some calls to find out which banks use the large to small posting order, and try to keep a better handle on your account balance to avoid writing checks that overdraw the account.
