Check Adjustment

I recently purchased a car and presented the dealership with a check for the difference of $7,000.00. They deposited the check for $4,000.00. We notified our bank and they debited our account $3,000.00. They advised me and the dealership the transaction would go through the Federal Reserve and it would appear in the dealership's account. How do I follow this transaction and how long should it take for the $3,000.00 to appear in the dealership's account?

You can't follow the transaction except to ask the dealership to let you know when it receives the adjustment. Our estimate would be that it will take less than a week for the adjustment to be completed.
