Obtaining Information on a Certified Check

I sent out a certified check worth more than $6500. I got a letter from the bank stating that there was only thirty days left for the person to cash it. Can I request information from the bank regarding the status of the check (has it been cashed, the date cashed, copy of the cashed check with signature, etc.)?

It sounds as if the check has been outstanding for a long time, since certified checks are usually good until paid unless enough time has passed to put the check under a state's abandoned property laws. If you are the party that issued the check and arranged to have it certified, you may ask the bank for information on its status and obtain a copy. Contact the bank quickly for that information.
