Using Joint Account if Personal Account Overdrawn

My personal checking account was charged off and I entered into a repayment plan with my bank. Am I still able to write checks on my joint account or will stores refuse to take my check?

In many cases the account number may be on file as having a high amount of risk, and checks on that account may be refused by a merchant. In some cases the database may be based on the account owner's name. If you have a fear that your check may be refused, consider using a debit card. Funds still come from the joint account, but no verification, other than funds being available, is necessary on the merchants part. Published on BankingQuestions.com 11/16/07
