How to Prove a Deposit

I deposited $13,950 in my credit card account by using a cash drop-down box. I have the receipt with me, but without a stamp, but that amount is not credited to my account. They are asking me to pay the entire amount. Is there any way to prove that I deposited that amount?

You can only hope that the bank has a regular, careful reconciliation of the amounts in the drop box, and that it is opened and processed under what banks call "dual control." That's simply making sure that two individuals are involved in the process, so that the potential for dishonesty or temptation is lessened. Sometimes the processing of drop box transactions is done under camera surveillance. Either of those circumstances may provide a record that your cash payment was actually made.

It is never wise to make a payment by cash except in person, with an employee of the payee who is charged with verifying the cash count and can issue an official receipt. As you describe it, its not certain that the receipt you have is worth anything.
