Is it possible to deposit funds into a credit card account and later withdraw them without the account holder's consent? If so, what is the procedure and timeline for release of funds and notification to the account holder for a transaction reversal occuring between August 2006 and March 2007?
I am doing research involving a case pending on receiving information on funds electronically deposited into an account and then withdrawn without the account holder's knowledge or consent. I am looking for the regulations regarding this type of transaction reversal.
These transactions would show on the periodic bank statements. In any case, if funds were paid to a credit card account in error, or deposited into a deposit account in error, this could be reversed at any point as the funds were not owned by the accountholder. Other scenarios could apply, but you would need to refer to that accountholder/bank for the particulars.
