Using Money in Joint Account for Offset

I have a credit card account with a bank, and I am past due on it. My father has an account at the same bank with my name on it. Can they take the money out of my father's account to satisfy my credit card debt?

It's actually illegal for a bank to set off a credit card account balance against a deposit account of the obligor. However, the bank can take legal action to get a court order authorizing access to that joint account. That legal action route would be available to any bank holding your credit card account if it identifies an account in your name, individually or jointly held, in any bank.
