I have a complaint against a national credit card company. How do I go about registering that?
You will place your complaint with the regulator of the bank that issued the credit card. Your original documents or the card itself should tell you who this is. Enter the bank name into the FDIC's Bank Find to identify the banking regulator. At that regulators' site you will find information about their ombudsman who will receive and process your complaint. They will contact the bank and inquire as to the resolution of the complaint.
State banks would go to that state's banking agency. Many people also complain to the FTC and BBB, but the banks regulator is the recommended route. These complaints are recorded, followed up, and reviewed when the bank is examined.
