Copying My Credit Cards

Is it illegal to make copies of credit cards?

No, it is not. In many instances this can be a security measure. If your wallet is lost, you need to contact the credit card companies to notify them of the loss so the cards will be deactivated. The easiest way to get the telephone number is often off the card, which you no longer have. Making a copy of the cards you carry, front and back, and storing it in a safe place is an inventory control measure. Having this copy in a home safe or safe deposit box both protects the information, and allows you to contact the companies and provide your card information.
