I am on SSDI and my spouse is my representative payee. I am also 100% VA disabled. Because of my wife's illness and the intervening time in receiving my compensations, I ran up some unsecured debts. I am currently with a debt resolution company. How can I prevent any creditors from freezing my accounts? No other monies enter these accounts except my disability. It has been suggested that we move to a new bank and open new accounts just in my wife's name. Is this a good idea?

If your funds are already in an account with your wife's name as representative payee, they are pretty well protected from your individual creditors. Social Security income is legally protected from attachment in any event. Continue working to get your obligations under control.
