Can You Erase Bad Credit History?

If you have a problem and have to let a auto get reposessed, can you pay the difference and get it to come off your credit?

Your credit history can be corrected if it is incorrect, but it can't be re-written. If the repossession was voluntary rather than involuntary, that fact may be reflected in your record, as can the fact that you ultimately repaid the debt.

However, the fact that you were behind on payments during the life of the contract cannot be changed. It can only "age off" your credit bureau report and be replaced with, we hope, history of a better type.
