Lost My Job and Over My Head

I lost my job recently and my debit card was used a lot. The bank wants to close my account. What will this do? How will this go on my credit report?

From the question it sounds as though your debit card was used and possibly overdrew your checking account, or has maxed out a line of credit. In either case the bank is looking for the balance owed to be paid either in whole, or in part. If you can't do this they may be forced to close the account.

There are many factors that affect your credit score. The manner in which these factors are used is generally proprietary to the company calculating the score. Whether it will affect your score, or not, if the bank charges the account off as a loss, it likely would bring your score down. Again, there is no way to tell how much.

Your best course of action is to communicate with the bank, ask if they can convert the debt to a loan with regular payments and then repay that debt. The bank doesn't want a charge off either and they've little to lose by trying this since you won't be getting any additional money.
