Can Executor Transfer Money Between Accounts?

I was a POA on my mother's account at GE Interest Plus. She passed away and I am now the executor of her estate. Is it illegal for me to withdraw her money from the GE account to put it into her estate account? I don't want to do anything wrong, but I know from experience that GE is a pain to try to work with on something like this.

Assuming that you have been appointed by the court as executor (mere naming in a Will is not official), you should contact GE to assume control of the account in that capacity. They will need to see a copy of your court appointment and may have some other documentation requirements. Then you should be able to move funds out without a problem.
