Can a check which is dated after the death of the issuer/writer, on their signature, be presented for payment for a service and cashed?

This check either has to have been postdated deliberately or in error, or has to have been forged. If the bank on which the check is drawn knows of the date of death and notices that the check is dated after death, it should not pay the check. Laws allow banks the option of paying checks dated prior to death for up to ten days after death unless someone claims an interest in the account. If the same bank is ignorant of the customer's death, its payment of the check would be legal, regardless of the date on the check.
