About an Estate Account and Outstanding Bills

My husband passed and I received a check as payoff of an auto loan, made out to the estate of his name. How do I cash it, so that I can pay off other medical bills owed? Do I have to set up an estate account, and if so how do I access it to pay off the outstanding bills?

Before you can set up an estate account, you will need to be named by the probate court as executor or administrator of the estate. With that appointment, you can set up the needed account, deposit the check and withdraw the funds as needed.
