My grandfather passed away a over a month ago. He was the only person on his account. Before he died he was helping my uncle out here and there. My uncle paid a credit card bill of his, and forged his signature on a check that was written out and cleared after my grandfather died. This all happened in South Dakota. What can happen to my uncle? What laws did he break and do you know what could happen to him?

A lot depends on who has an interest in your grandfather's estate. If the estate is probated, the personal representative of the estate could uncover the forgery and attempt to recover the funds for the estate. Your uncle should consider whether he needs legal advice.
