Online Transfer Moves Funds After Death

An individual passed away and the funds that were in his individual checking account were transferred online to a joint checking account in his name, what are the heir's rights?

State law will govern, but it's normal that the bank without knowledge of the individual's death, would not be accountable for the transfer you've described. That would leave the estate, through its personal representative, the possibility of attempting to recover the funds from the party that benefited from the transfer, presumably the joint owner of the account receiving the transfer.
