Two Beneficiaries; One Died; Who Gets What Now?

My grandmother had two CDs at our local Minnesota bank. On them, she listed my mother and my aunt as PODs. My mother passed away six months before my grandmother did. Does my aunt need to give my mother's estate her half of the CDs?

Whether or not your mother's estate is entitled to any part of the accounts will depend on Minnesota law relating to multiple party accounts or to non-probate transfers on death. You or your aunt should check with an attorney conversant with state laws on the subject.
