Getting Separate Checks for Co-Beneficiaries

How can co-beneficiaries get the closed account funds issued in separate checks? The co-beneficiaries are not communicating, so this must be done.

The co-beneficiaries may have to communicate to coordinate a time when they can go to the bank together to get this accomplished. It will depend on how the bank wants or needs to handle the matter.

Contact the bank and explain that you need separate checks. It's likely the bank is prepared for that anyhow. It may be willing to remove the funds in two transactions done at separate times, or it may require that both beneficiaries be present when the account is closed out. The telephone call will also give you information on what documentation you'll need to bring in order to claim the funds. Certainly, the bank will require that you bring a current photo ID at minimum.
