Trying to Deposit Someone Else's Check

My mom was a school teacher and they gave my father a check that was for her last hours worked and her leave, but it is in her name and his bank won't let him deposit it. How can he cash it?

The payment belongs to your mother's estate. If your father can't get the school district to re-issue the check in his name, he will have to determine whether it's worth it to settle the estate using his state's probate process.
