Combining Accounts of the Deceased

My husband passed away 9/26/09. His checking account was the only account that was not joint. What do I need to do to put that money in with the rest that was in a joint account?

Legally, the funds in that account are now part of your late husband's estate, and no one other than the executor or administrator has access. However, if the account balance is relatively small, the state may have a law that the bank can use to pay the funds out to you as next of kin. Contact them to find out if it can take advantage of such a law, and exactly how to proceed.
