Setting Up Estate Account from Afar

My mother recently died and we need to set up an estate account in Illinois. The executor lives in Florida. Is it possible to set up the account in Illinois without the executor coming in from Florida?

Each bank establishes its own criteria when it comes to opening accounts other than in person. Assuming that the executor has contacted an Illinois attorney to start the probate process, it might be a good idea to contact that attorney again to see if his/her office knows of a bank that might consider opening such an account by mail. An introduction by the attorney's office might help get things moving in that direction.
