Disability Check Received After Death: What to do?

My mother died and I received her short term disability check. It's dated three days after she died and is for the week preceding her death. Is there anything I can do to cash this check myself or deposit it into her account?

Before you do anything, contact the agency that issued the check. In many cases, if the beneficiary of such a payment dies before the payment is made, the agency is entitled to reclaim the payment. If the issuing of the check was correct, you can deposit it to an account in the name of your mother's estate.
