Can't Find the Key and Don't Know the Bank

Before my father-in-law passed away, he showed his daughter a key to a safe deposit box. We are unable to locate the key and don't which bank he used. Is there any way to find out?

You can call the local banks and advise them of his death. They will often check their records for accounts, insurances, etc. They too, will want any of these settled if he has an account there. The bank may require a death certificate copy to answer your question. Otherwise, wait for the renewal bill or bank statement to come in the snail mail or e-mail. If there were electronic records on your father-in-laws computer, that will help you.
