Cashing Check Endorsed by Decedent

How do I cash a dividend check that was endorsed by someone who recently passed away?

Untitled

As long as the endorsement took place before the payee's death (in other words, it was actually endorsed by the payee), and the check was given to you by the payee, it should still be negotiable. You could run into problems if your bank refuses to cash the check without being able to verify the original payee's signature.
