My aunt died in December and I am the only surviving relative. I was the POA paying the nursing home bills. There is no estate and no money left. I just received a check from the nursing home made out to her and me with my name and address on it. Can I deposit this check into my checking account?

You can't deposit such a check to your account. Contact the nursing home, and explain the situation. Then ask if they will re-issue a check (in exchange, of course, for the one you have now) in your name.
