How does Widow Establish Trust Account?

My husband recently passed away. How do I set up a trust account to deposit the check that I just received addressed "To the estate of: (his name)."

Untitled

To deposit the check, you will have to be legally designated as the personal representative of your husband's estate. That's a generic name for the executor/trix of a will or (if there is no valid will), the administrator/trix of the estate. You'd receive a document from the probate court (Surrogate Court in New Jersey) evidencing your appointment. You'll need to bring an original of the appointment and of your husband's death certificate to the bank to open the account.
