If my father puts a house up on his land in his name for us to live in and we pay the mortgage that is in his name, what happens when he dies?
Untitled
If the land was owned by your father at his death, it gets handled as a part of his estate. It's up to the personal representative of the estate to facilitate the transfer ownership or title of the property, based on your father's Will if he left one, or upon state law. If you are concerned that you might be adversely affected, you should consult an attorney.
