Many years ago my mother had her sister hold money for me because of problems on my dad's side of the family. I recently approached my aunt about this money and she said that she didn't know anything about it. This transaction would have happened around thirty years ago and my mother has passed away since then. Is there any way that I can find information that would prove that my mother gave this money to my aunt?
If your aunt can't recall being entrusted with the funds and there's no one else who can corroborate your recollections, its hard to know where to suggest that you look. In the event an account was set up for you with a bank, there's a possibility the funds were surrendered to your state treasurer under abandoned property laws. You can try looking at this website to see if your name appears there, or contact your state treasurer's office directly and ask to speak to someone in the Abandoned Property division.
