I believe that my sister wrote checks on my now deceased mother's account while my mother was still living. I have a statement from the account but want to see actual checks. The bank says that I cannot because I am not the executor and the executor will not help. What can I do to obtain this information?

The bank is correct in limiting access to the executor of the estate. If you believe that your sister wrote checks that she was not entitled to write, the executor should want to know about them, because the estate could have a claim against the bank for wrongful payment. On the other hand, if the checks end up being for your mother's benefit (paying her bills, etc.), there would be no issue.
If you have an interest in the estate and the checks in question are large enough to make a difference to you, you can continue trying to get the executor to investigate. If you get nowhere, seek legal advice -- assuming the dollars involved are worth the potential expense of legal advice.
