My credit union is closed until Monday so thanks to any for their help....I was sent a check for my student loans (30k check) written to both my grandfather and myself. I live in Florida and he lives in Illinois, and we both bank at different banks. Can my bank deposit my check with just his signature? What do I have to do?? Thanks again all, hopefully I can save a trip to Chicago....

Due to the high volume of fraud, most banks would require that your grandfather be present with ID to deposit the check into your account. The bank has no way to verify that your grandfathers signature is authentic. You could send the check to your grandfather and have him get a signature gaurantee stamp from his bank and he could send it to you. Most banks would accept that.
