I need to return a check WOE due to an altered payee.. we can not locate the original check but we do have a very clear copy of it... Will most banks accept a photocopy of the check?

No. I would be very, very, very surprised if any bank would.

If the copy you have is the bank's IMAGED copy, then I would say you could go forward. But if all you have is your own photocopy of the check, I can't see where a bank would want to rely on it.

You may want to check with your bank to see if they have an imaged copy of the check.
